Your politics might be killing your spirituality
Especially if you are watching certain news sources a lot
This includes Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, Talk radio hosts and podcasts like Rush LImbaugh, and Ben Shapiro. Others include Daily Beast, Prager U (yes), OAN, and many others.
There was a time when I would check out both CNN and Fox news to see what people from different sides were saying. I stopped that when I realized that I wasn’t getting a balanced view, I was getting two different groups using the same methods to stir people up to anger. They both used a lot of manipulation
Same as this tactic used by Amalickiah in the Book of Mormon
"For behold, his designs were to stir up the Lamanites to anger against the Nephites; this he did that he might usurp great power over them, and also that he might gain power over the Nephites by bringing them into bondage."
Alma 43:8
Note that he uses it to get power of “his side” and the opposite side as well. These newscasts are getting power over us by riling us up to anger all the time
That’s one of the reasons why I started making these one minute short videos on strategies and techniques used to rile you up to anger
Note that none of these techniques rely on lying so your news source could be telling the truth and still manipulating you
My first two videos rely are about how they get you to hate the “other” side or any group of people they want to while still telling the truth:
What they pay attention to
How they represent “other” groups and get you to hate people
I did a third one on
Cherry picking evidence on complicated issues but I’ll do a future post more on this
Here is where I am posting all of them (there are eight now)

I often think about James and John wanting to firebomb the Samaritans and he taught them to love them, but not only that he took them among the Samaritans to learn who they really are.
Luke 9:54
I've talked with more than a few people who weaned themselves off of some of these news sources and felt better as a result. Have any of you done this? Have any of you found sources that are good sources of information but not using manipulation tactics? I'm actually curious.
